Bulletin Board and Fish Counter figures
The Bulletin Board page is a place to offer news and announcements about members, and also to let members communicate with each other.

And talking of communication if anyone has a good photo of the River or a fish they've caught, have them scanned and email them along and I'll see if we can put them on the Photo page.

Talking of Fish and decent Fish here a link to the British Freshwater fish records http://www.anglerstimes.co.uk/recordsfreshwater.htm
Nice to think some-one could get a British record from our water.

In the 2008 Season the Club will again stocked with Triploid Brown Trout. That's Trout that are sexless - neither male or female. The advantage of this is the fish are reportedly less territorial, don't breed and once released don't swim very far looking for a mate or new feeding grounds. First impressions from the Club members is the Brown Trout fishing was reasonably successful in past seasons so we'll be repeating the stocking of Triploids this season. There is some thought that perhaps Triploids aren't as good for a River as first thought. Because they are sexless and don't breed they stay put in a river throughout the year instead of moving upstream into smaller streams to breed but stay and feed on the insect life and other food in that particular stretch of the river and, so it is thought, in the spring there is less food for the small fry and parr and returning trout to feed on.

We now have a map, courtesy of the Ordnance Survey, showing the extent of our waters.

There are talks afoot to amalgamate the Salmon & Trout association with the ACA, NAFAC & the NFA to create a more powerful fishing lobby.
